Asansol. Durga Puja is the biggest festival in Bengal. The Bengali community celebrates it as Durgotsav. The festival is especially special for young girls and women as it gives them an opportunity to dress up, where attire plays a major role. This Durga Puja fashion is a mix of tradition, innovation, and comfort. From traditional sarees to resin bangles, comfortable children's clothes to new types of jewelry, buyers are showing a strong trend toward experimenting with traditional clothing alongside new styles.

Sarees are emerging as the most popular item in the traditional clothing category, and choices have evolved. 'Ghungroo' sarees from Surat are in highest demand. These sarees, featuring net fabric and intricate work on blouses, are witnessing massive sales. Alongside these, sarees made of Gazi silk, Chanderi, tissue, organza, brocade, matka, kotki, customized chiffon, and Banarasi malmal are selling rapidly. Three-piece sets, salwar-kameez, and straight-cut dresses are in high demand this season, with French-style designs selling profusely. In western wear, bodycon silhouettes and two-piece dresses have seen a surge in demand, with bodycon dresses leading the sales.

Different fabrics are also creating a buzz in the Asansol coal belt. Fabrics like Roman glass, malmal, and Chanderi are drawing people's attention. Although Roman silk was popular last season, the demand for Roman glass is significantly higher this time. However, cotton fabric maintains its enduring popularity for both daily wear and festive occasions.

In the world of jewelry, wooden jewelry, resin bangles, anti-tarnish chains, oxidized jewelry, and rings are selling heavily, alongside a demand for vintage jewelry. In earrings, Kashmiri jhumkas are gaining immense popularity, coupled with demand for small pendants, Korean-style designs, and western-style earrings. Traditional jewelry retains its significance on special days like Ashtami or Dashami. Shades like white, ivory, gold, beige, and pastel are becoming popular, while bright colors like red, orange, pink, blue, and yellow add vibrancy to festive attire.
