Dhanbad: Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Coal, Coal India Limited, State Government, and Indian Railways, the Maheshpur Rapid Loading System (RLS) achieved a significant milestone on Sunday. In the presence of BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal and Director (Finance & HR) Rajesh Kumar, coal loading in the trial rake started from RLS. The first rake loaded from this facility was flagged off for NTPC Nabinagar.
The annual capacity of Maheshpur RLS is 5 million tonnes. It is BCCL's first First Mile Connectivity project. Through this, mechanized and rapid loading of coal into railway rakes will be possible. This will increase the speed of coal evacuation and save time and resources. Prior to commissioning the project, several important works were completed in 2026. These include rail connectivity from the main DC line, non-interlocking work, testing of diesel engines, and approval of commercial notification by the railway authorities. Speaking on the occasion, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal said that the operation of Maheshpur RLS will further accelerate BCCL's First Mile Connectivity initiative and make coal evacuation more effective and smooth. GM Govindpur Satyakam Anand, GM Barora KK Singh, GM UG & Siding GK Mehta, GM E&M RR Karan, Project Officer Maheshpur Silo Dheeraj Kumar, and many other officials were present at the event.
