Anti-Corruption Branch Arrests Raghunathpur Municipality Assistant Engineer

ASANSOL: The Bengal Anti-Corruption Branch has arrested an employee of the Raghunathpur Municipality in Purulia district. The accused has been identified as Bijay Kumar Mani. According to sources, he was working as an assistant engineer in the municipality and faces multiple corruption charges. The accused was produced before the Bankshal Court. Public Prosecutor Binay Kumar Verma argued in court that the accused had already been suspended by the authorities. Investigators have found traces of massive assets belonging to him. It is claimed that documents for around 100 land plots have been recovered from the accused. He is also accused of clearing tenders and bills for various government works. Several bank passbooks, cheque books, and fake documents have also been found. The government requested police custody of the accused for further investigation. On the other hand, the defense counsel Swagat Biswas filed a bail application. After hearing statements from both sides, the court ordered the accused to remain in police custody until November 6.
