Dhanbad: During a video interaction in Chhatabad, Katras, a BCCL official clearly stated that they have "no technical solution" for sand stowing in the lower seam, and dumping debris from above would increase the load, causing further subsidence. The truth is that hydraulic sand stowing is practiced worldwide according to DGMS standards, but not in Katras, as if the mines here are the most dangerous in the world.
In reality, the company is clearly avoiding spending crores of rupees on it.
During the visit, the GM repeatedly stated, "We need a 100-meter radius cleared for blasting and cutting." This means under the guise of land subsidence, they actually want to clear the entire area to pave the way for open-cast mining. The GM told local representatives, "You give a written proposal that you are ready to clear 100 meters, then we will proceed." On this issue, KVM stated that this is actually a legal trap and a ploy to mislead and serve their own interests. If the public or councilors write and state that they are ready to evacuate, BCCL will present this as "citizens' voluntary consent" before the court and government, which will automatically weaken the legal claim of the citizens.
When it came to the money and compensation for raiyats (landowners), the officials clearly stated, "We do not take responsibility for raiyats, that is a matter for JRDA and the master plan." This means they will get your houses vacated, but in the name of compensation, they will make you run around JRDA.
BCCL wants to evict people in pieces—first 83 houses, then dividing it into 100 meters. Instead of falling into this trap, keep the documents of your ancestral property ready.
