Bankura. Jayanta Pal, posted as a DIB Inspector in the Bankura Police Lines, died after being hit by the Aranyak Express. Police recovered the body near the Ketherdanga railway gate in the city. There is confusion over whether he actually died while crossing the railway line or if there was another reason behind his death. A year ago, he was shot, which caused a major uproar in the police department. Earlier, on February 20, 2025, Jayanta was shot at a petrol pump in Ghoshpara, Howrah. He sustained a bullet injury in his left hand. However, at that time, he was working as an in-charge in Chanditala, Hooghly. During that incident, the name of a mysterious woman came to light. The young woman is a resident of Sankrail, Howrah. It was said that Jayanta was in contact with her on social media and was close to her. Jayanta and the woman were also seen several times in a tall building in the complex. However, after the shooting incident, the woman's mother claimed that she did not know Jayanta, which deepened the mystery. Later, Jayanta was suspended by the state police. At that time, the ADG (Law and Order) of the state police was Javed Shamim. He claimed that Jayanta had left the police station and gone to a neighboring district without informing anyone. He was suspended for violating rules while on duty. Following his suspension, Jayanta handled the responsibilities of Khanakul, Chanditala, and Singur police stations one by one.
