Dhanbad. Amid old criminal disputes in Wasseypur and surrounding areas, a broad daylight firing incident took place near Bhuli More on Monday. Criminals targeted and opened fire on Shanu Khan, the brother of Fahim Khan. Apart from Shanu Khan, a youth named Saddam and a woman were reportedly injured in the incident. All three were rushed to the hospital for treatment with the help of locals. Panic gripped the area following the incident.
Following the firing incident, discussions have linked it to the arrest of Prince Khan's brother, Bunty Khan, from Kolkata on September 14, and his subsequent parade by the police in Wasseypur. However, police have not confirmed any direct connection between the two events, stating that the investigation is ongoing and it is too premature to reach any conclusion.
Discussions began after September 14 incident
According to reports, Bunty Khan was brought to Dhanbad from Kolkata on September 14. Afterward, the police took him to the Wasseypur area. A large number of people gathered as Bunty Khan was paraded through the area under police protection.
Locals discuss that some relatives of Fahim Khan had opposed the police action during this time. According to eyewitnesses, there was a verbal altercation and jostling among some individuals during the protest. However, based on available information, police have not confirmed any direct dispute or connection to the subsequent firing. On Monday, sudden firing took place on Shanu Khan near Bhuli More. Bike-borne assailants reportedly targeted and shot at him. Stampede-like conditions ensued in the vicinity upon the firing. Shanu Khan, Saddam, and a woman are reported injured from the bullets.
Upon receiving information, the police team reached the spot and started investigation. Police recovered eight empty cartridges from the scene, indicating multiple rounds of gunfire. Detailed information regarding the condition and treatment of the injured is currently unavailable.
Following the firing, police are scanning CCTV footage installed in the surrounding areas. Efforts are underway to identify the attackers based on evidence found at the scene. Police are also trying to ascertain the real motive behind targeting Shanu Khan.
