The accused threatened the victim by showing her his picture with the MLA of Krishnanagar South Assembly. A complaint for rape and attempted murder has been registered at the Kotwali police station, and police have started an investigation.
According to the police, the accused forcibly entered the house of a 30-year-old housewife residing in the Kotwali police station area and raped her. At that time, the victim's husband was not at home, and her minor son was sleeping in another room. The written complaint states that she was sleeping on the balcony of the house at night when the accused scaled the wall, entered the house, and raped her. Later, when she protested, the youth assaulted her and also attacked the house with some accomplices. The victim was earlier close to the accused youth, but recently their relations soured, after which the youth allegedly started blackmailing her.
According to local sources, the accused is an influential party worker. According to the victim, the BJP MLA of Krishnanagar South Assembly has several pictures with the youth, which he used to intimidate her. Even after complaining to the police, action was delayed due to political influence. DSP Shilpi Pal stated that an investigation has been initiated based on the complaint, the victim's statement has been recorded, and a case of rape and attempted murder has been registered. The accused is currently being searched for. MLA Sadhan Ghosh stated that he does not know the accused.
