ASANSOL: Debashish Biswas and Lakshmi Biswas, residents of Shivanibas Haldarpara under Krishnaganj police station in Nadia district, worshipped their eight-year-old daughter instead of an idol on Kojagari Lakshmi Purnima. The couple took this decision against child exploitation, rising rapes, and inhumane crimes. According to family members, society often ignores daughters and discriminates between sons and daughters. To eradicate this anti-social mindset, they worshipped their daughter as a mother and are proud of it. This worship not only highlights women's safety but also addresses various social flaws. Priest Tarun Banerjee, who conducted the ritual, stated that girls are equal to mothers. Worshipping a girl as Lakshmi is completely lawful. Every family should adopt such a mindset to stop mistreatment of children and protect women's honor in society.
