Dhanbad: Amidst the ongoing dispute regarding illegal coal trading in the Katras police station area, Congress leader Ashok Lal held a press conference accusing the station in-charge of allegedly misbehaving with a female public representative.
Addressing the press conference, Ashok Lal said that Ward Councilor Nirupama Devi of Ward No.-5, along with villagers, had gone to the Katras police station to demand a halt to the illegal coal trading in the area and to submit a complaint regarding the matter. He alleged that the station in-charge showed reluctance in accepting the complaint application. Afterward, when the villagers and public representatives sat on the road outside the police station premises to protest, they were also asked to move from there.
Mr. Lal stated that there is outrage among the villagers and public representatives regarding the matter. He demanded a fair investigation and action into the entire incident from senior officials.
Meanwhile, Ward No.-5 Councilor Nirupama Devi said that such behavior towards a female public representative is a serious issue. She stated that if she does not get justice, she will adopt the path of placing her complaint before the Women's Commission and other concerned constitutional institutions, including filing a defamation suit.
