Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Eden Gardens on October 10 on the occasion of Mahalaya to inaugurate Durgotsav. Planning is underway to make this event global.

Something unprecedented is set to take place during the first Durga Puja following the change of government in the state. Bengal's Durgotsav has also been certified by UNESCO. However, for the first time, a meaningful effort is being made to take it global. According to sources, the promotion of Durga Puja will continue across three countries—England, the United States of America, and Dubai. The promotion and clippings of the event will be broadcast at Times Square in America, Piccadilly Circus in England, and Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari will be present at the event for about an hour and a half. Prior to reaching Eden, the Prime Minister and Chief Minister will hold a roadshow. They will be welcomed at the venue with traditional ulodhwani. The event at Eden will begin at 5 PM. Shantanu Moitra, Shaan, Antara Mitra, Debarshi Bhattacharya, Kausiki Chakraborty, and Bengali bands will participate in the cultural program. Lagnajita will also sing at the event. Three thousand dhakis will perform. The Prime Minister will take a round of the ground in a golf cart. Modi will also inaugurate several pujas. Finally, there will be a drone show and fireworks at Eden. There will be 35,000 spectators at Eden, including 2,500 VIPs.

On the morning of Mahalaya, Mahishasuramardini in the voice of Birendra Krishna Bhadra will be played on microphones. The state government is organizing this at essential ghats in Kolkata and Howrah.
