Dhanbad. On Saturday, the Katras Koyalanchal Bachao Samiti launched a public awareness campaign over the issues of land subsidence and rehabilitation. Led by former councilor Vinod Kumar Goswami, the campaign from Katras to Selected Govindpur saw the participation of hundreds of local citizens. Issues related to the safety, rehabilitation, and compensation of affected families were raised during the drive.
Samiti's former councilor Vinod Kumar Goswami stated that their committee is not against development, but uprooting the people of Katras from their land and homes in the name of development will not be accepted. He demanded that families affected by land subsidence be given a respectful rehabilitation right in Katras along with proper compensation. He emphasized that ensuring the safety, rehabilitation, and future of the affected families is the responsibility of the administration and BCCL.
The awareness campaign saw participation from several individuals including Kishan Pandit, Chintu Turi, Bablu Das, Baso Turi, Pintu Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Hritik Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Lal Bahadur, and Subhash Turi. Additionally, a large number of local women, including Sakli Devi, Budhni Devi, Dukhne Devi, Reena Patwa, Muniya Devi, Lakshmi Devi, and Ruby Devi, also took part in the campaign.
