Kolkata. Changes have been made in the state BJP leadership ahead of the municipal elections. The reshuffle was announced on Friday. From the organisation's women, youth, and OBC morchas to organisational district presidents and state secretaries, new faces are present everywhere. Sources say this change in various posts is in accordance with the 'one post, one person' policy. Under this policy, three leaders—Tapas Roy, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, and Agnimitra Paul—were removed from organisational posts. As a reward for being a loyal soldier in the saffron camp for a long time, actress Anjana Basu becoming the Mahila Morcha chief is a big surprise. Replacing Agnimitra, she has become the most powerful leader in women's BJP.
MLA Amit Samant has been appointed as the BJP Youth Front president, replacing Indranil Khan of Behala West. Locket Chatterjee has been made the state general secretary of the women's wing, while Bishnupur MP Saumitra Khan has been appointed state general secretary. Additionally, district presidents have been changed in seven organisational districts—Barasat, Bangaon, Serampore, Arambagh, Midnapore, Burdwan, and Katwa. Jadavpur MLA Sharvari Mukherjee has been removed from the post of state secretary. Darjeeling MP Raju Bista has been appointed vice-president. The central leadership issued a notification regarding this on Friday.
