ASANSOL. Following the Delhi model, initiatives have begun in Bengal to unite various opposition student organizations. CPM General Secretary M.A. Baby has taken a meaningful initiative in uniting opposition political parties. In Bengal, this initiative has been taken by the CPM's student wing, SFI. Efforts are underway to bring all secular democratic student organizations onto a single platform to intensify the agitation against the Election Commission and the central government. SFI General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharya is sending letters to all such student unions. Initiatives will soon be taken to bring everyone together and hold a meeting.
SFI has raised questions over the impartiality of the Election Commission and demanded the withdrawal of the ongoing process of modifying the voter list. They have appealed to various student and youth organizations to participate in the student and youth rally in Delhi on October 10, accusing the commission of curtailing democratic and electoral rights. Amidst this atmosphere, reports are emerging of forming an anti-BJP alliance on the model of the INDIA alliance. SFI General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharya said that people are gradually losing faith in the role of the Election Commission. This situation is worrying for the country's democratic system. Srijan alleged that the voter list was not prepared properly. Specifically, the names of many young and eligible voters have been left out of the list. In such a situation, students and youth like the INDIA alliance must fight together. Therefore, SFI is going to write letters to all student organizations.
