Siliguri's Central Colony Durga Idols Adorned with 100 kg Gold Worth Rs 140 Crore

Siliguri. At the Central Colony Durga Puja pandal in Siliguri, the crowd eager to see the 100 kg gold ornaments adorning the idols is even larger than the crowd gathered to view the idols themselves. Their value is estimated at Rs 140 crore. The committee is organizing this for the 64th year. The gold ornaments include crowns, necklaces, and other jewelry. This year's puja theme is 'Fairy Tale of Idols'. Due to the massive amount of gold ornament decoration, strict security arrangements have been put in place. More than 40 CCTV cameras have been installed in the pandal premises. Volunteers, police, and paramilitary forces have been deployed. The pandal was inaugurated by BJP MP from Jalpaiguri, Jayanta Kumar Roy.
