Approximately 50 paramedical students of Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH), Dhanbad, have not received their honorarium or salary for the past 7 months, prompting continuous protests. As part of this, they demonstrated in front of the Civil Surgeon's office today. These students were recruited in March this year and deployed as technicians in various departments of the hospital. According to the students, they were supposed to receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 12,000, but not a single payment has been made since March. The students allege that officials are delaying the matter by making excuses about pending signatures or incomplete documents, causing them severe financial distress. Paramedical students of SNMMCH Dhanbad have been rendering their services for several months now. From patient examinations to handling technical responsibilities in various departments, these students are now forced to run from pillar to post for their honorarium. In fact, the services of about 50 paramedical students of the 2023-25 batch began in March. According to the students, under the government's bond-based service system, they have to serve as technicians in various departments of SNMMCH. In return, each student is supposed to get an honorarium of Rs 12,000 per month. However, no payment has been made even after six to seven months of service. The students say that they are doing their work regularly, but due to non-payment of honorarium, their financial problems are mounting.
