Rumki Sarkar, the Trinamool councillor of Ward 3 under Habra Municipality in North 24 Parganas, was riding a scooter with party leader Ashish Sen. It is alleged that several youths blocked their way. In the viral video, Rumki and Ashish can be seen being questioned. One of the youths is heard asking, "Whose wife is this?" After the dispute escalated, a youth slaps Trinamool leader Ashish Sen. Somehow, both managed to escape from the spot. Local politics has heated up following this. Trinamool leaders have expressed deep anger over the matter. Meanwhile, according to local BJP leader Debajyoti Das, this is the result of the actions of Trinamool leaders. He claimed that the people of Ward 3 know them as Laila-Majnu. However, he did not support the incident of assault. The female councillor's husband has passed away. According to the BJP leader, he had committed suicide. There is considerable anger among local residents, who claim that this act was done by BJP supporters and such an incident is highly condemnable.
