Durgapur. The body of a youth was found near the railway platform bridge close to the local goods shed in Durgapur, triggering an investigation. Bloodstains were visible from a nearby house extending up to the road, suggesting that the body might have been dragged there.
Local residents were the first to notice the blood spilled from inside a nearby house to the main road. Local resident Shambhu Das said the marks on the ground clearly indicated that the body was dragged out from inside that house. However, he had no information regarding the identity of the person or the motive behind the incident. The house in question is located next to the railway goods yard, where empty commercial trucks are frequently parked. According to local sources, several truck drivers stay in this area, though police investigators are currently ascertaining whether the residents have any connection to the deceased or the crime. Upon receiving information, a team of police officials from the Coke Oven police station rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area, and recovered the body. Forensic teams are expected to examine the blood trails stretching from the house to the railway site.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Raspreet Singh said that the investigation is underway. The body has been sent for autopsy, and every angle is being probed. The top priority is to identify the deceased youth. Officials stated that the exact cause, time, and location of death can only be confirmed once the autopsy report is received. Questioning of local residents and truck drivers is ongoing.
